It was summer 2024, and we were having one of those conversations that ministry leaders aren't supposed to have. You know the kind—where you admit that the people you love are walking away, and maybe, just maybe, some of their concerns are valid.
We’d all been hearing the same feedback. The complaints stung because they felt true:
- "We're tired of lectures without interaction."
- "Lots of people in church leadership are really messed up."
- "Churches only meet the needs of people who fit inside one neat cultural box."
We knew these weren't just complaints—they were invitations.
Many of us had experienced the pain of watching friends leave the church. We'd felt the weight of their distrust. So instead of immediately inviting them back to a building, we met them where they were—online. We started sharing our own stories of healing from brokenness.
Over time, more voices joined the conversation. Friends added their stories to ours. A movement began to take shape.
A pivot point came when John Yoder, founder of Immigrant Ministry Connections, renamed the organization to Cross-Cultural Voices to spearhead our efforts to disciple and empower multiethnic young people.
Then the questions started coming. Ethnic churches—painfully aware they were losing their young people—began reaching out. Pastors asked for insights. They wanted to know how to capture the hearts of their English-speaking children for Christ. We began coaching churches individually, then in cohorts.

Today, we're still learning, still growing, and still adding partners.
We invite you to join us on a quest to see multiethnic young people transformed by the power of Christ and empowered to lead the church into the future.
